CAN YOU MEET THE CHALLENGE ?
New for Summer 2011 is the On One Hundred Mountain Marathon. Purple Mountain have teamed up with On One to bring you Yorkshire’s biggest bike challenge. Taking place in Dalby Forest and the surrounding moors we have 2 great challenges available over the weekend. On Saturday we kick off with the skinnies and a senic Cyclosportive backed by the Planet X boys, to be followed on Sunday by the headline act the On One Hundred Mountain Marathon.
You can choose one or both challenges(if you’re mad enough), both will consist of a fully signed and marshalled single circular lap of approx 100km. Touring across the stunning and wild North York Moors, taking in some of the most rewarding, challenging and spectacular terrain in the country.
The start and event arena will be based in the heart of Dalby Forest with full facilities, on-site camping and toilets. Demo bikes, trade stands with all the latest kit, tech support and catering with all day BBQ, will all be on hand to make the weekend ‘On-One’ to remember.
For those new to the sport there will be shorter courses available with half and mini distances for the Mountain Marathon and a 50km sportive. Purple Mountain will also be running a series of Skills Sessions though out the
weekend, great for the kids and those who want to polish up on their singletrack sections. There’ll be something for every one, so why not make a weekend of it, come along and get involved !
The Course
Out on the course there will be regular service stations with food, water and technical support, marshalls and medical cover. If for any reason you have a problem or want to reduce the distance but still want to complete the challenge, there will be shortcut escape routes that bring you back to Dalby under your own steam. the aim of the event will be to get everyone to the finish.
The MTB loop will explore the very best of Dalby Forest, home of the UCI World Cup, taking in some of the world class fast flowing singletrack and forest roads before heading out on to the Moors, riding over ancient byways and classic natural singletrack, before returning back to Dalby Forest for a final flourish. The Cyclosportive is equally impressive with challenging climbs and rewarding views on very quiet roads.
This will be an epic and awe-inspiring challenge for both rider and machine and is a great way to explore this fantastic corner of the UK.
The Goodies The events are non-competitive, but you will get an individual finish time and instead of prizes for the winners we’ve got some fantastic spot prizes provided by our sponsors, On-One, Planet X, Scott, Osprey, Fisher Outdoors, Zyro and Mule Bar. For those riding On One and Planet X bikes there will be a whole series of extra special spot prizes. In addition every rider will recieve a fantastic goodie bag packed full of goodies.
The Camping Based in the heart of Dalby Forest at Adderstone Field. Camping will be available (included in entry fee) from Friday night through to Monday morning. Riders will benefit from all usual facilities, water, toilets and onsite catering. A quite area will be set aside for those wanting a good nights kip before their Marathon Challenge, and there’ll also be a Family friendly area for those with kids.

Entries to all events will be handled on a first come first served basis. Entries are limited – if any spaces are still available, entry on the day is possible but will be subject to a £5 surcharge.
Planet X Cyclospotive
The On One Hundred kicks off with a ride on the skinnies. You can choose a spectacular 100km or a pleasant 50km. Both routes leave the forest by the back door and head out into the stunning North York Moors. Some challenging climbs are rewarded with breathtaking scenery and you’ll roll along the quiet roads on a fantastic loop. Then its back to the event arena and tea/coffee and cakes on the finish line.
Entry Fee is £35 for 100km and £30 for 50km, or take advantage of the On One Weekender at £60 (£15 discount)
On One Hundred Mountain Marathon Riders, novice or experienced, need look no further for the ultimate challenge. A single loop of perfection will explore the very best of Dalby Forest, home of the UCI World Cup, taking in some of the world class fast flowing singletrack and forest roads before heading out on to the Moors, riding over ancient byways and classic natural singletrack, before returning back to Dalby Forest for a final flourish. Almost exclusively off road with very short and only where necessary road sections. The route will be well signed and the aim would be to get everyone round. Back riders will ride the course but within safe limits their aim will be to help everyone to the finish. There won’t be strict time restrictions and you won’t be swept up unless you want to be.
If 100km is a little too far for you we’ve got a the Half (50km) or Mini (30km) Marathon distance to cut your teeth on. Great if you want to ride with a group or the family.
